Pataphysical Responses to Contemporary Issues

HAHA: Hinting at having alternatives!
Exhibited in the International Design Biennale : Gwangju, South Korea

Pataphysics is a school of thought introduced by French symbolist writer Alfred Jarry in a mock-scientific manner with undertones of spoofing and quackery. He coined the term and philosophical concept which uses absurd irony to portray symbolic truths, riddling with conventional concepts and interpretations of reality.
There is no one fixed definition of pataphysics. To have only one would be              un-pataphysical. Attempts to 'define pataphysics index an exotic attitude and disposition that challenges our predisposed, regular and habitual interpretations of the world and associated knowledge formation; and, consequently, also, our regular approaches to our practices (everyday, specialist and creative).

Popular definitions of 'pataphysics usually boil down to a number of gnomic utterances. For example:
'Pataphysics is the science of imaginary solutions.
'Pataphysics is to metaphysics as metaphysics is to physics.
'Pataphysics is the science of the particular and the laws governing exceptions.
Deliberate efforts are made to take the silly seriously and work around the satire with conviction.
